I was toodling around the net, looking at info about everything Sims, looking at pictures for use on the blog at some point and then I stumbled over a comment made on another blog that really made me frown. Here it is, copied directly:
"Okay. I'm probably breaking my NDA, but I don't care, it needs to be
said. I was a tester on Sims 4, and I can absolutely guarantee 100% that
toddlers/pools/night life is going to be added later. As paid dlc. I've
read the design docs, it's absolutely disgusting, and it was the final
nail in the coffin against EA for me (but I'll still buy Mass Effect Not
4 god damn it.) The game has had major MAJOR redesigns more than 10
times since it began, and it is purely the poor time management of EA's
design process that resulted in features being cut left and right. The
lots are smaller, there's less items, less interactions, fewer ways to
dye, fewer things you can do with other Sims, and the one good,
promising feature, an always-online social aspect (which actually was
originally the entire focus of the game, before Sim City came around and
absolutely forced a radical redesign/feature cut) was cut following
EA's disastrous handling of Sim City. Trust me, Sims 3 is just better,
in just about every single way. And it's disgusting. The problem with EA
is that they are just too much of a hulking, terribly managed mess to
come out with anything good - and the cost of making games in that
global-studio fashion means that more and more they're absolutely
focusing on paid dlc. It's really gross. Don't buy EA. They're bad for
gaming."

I have to point out that I am not sure if it's true or if it's just someone trying to rile people up.
I really wanted to post about this in the FB groups, but I don't feel like being the cause of people getting into major arguments, we've seen enough of that in the past few months on the Sims 3 forums...
So people, what do you think?
Is he speaking truth or is he just riling players up?
Comment, discuss, let me know what you think.

If this is true, it is horrible! We shouldn't have to pay for something that should have already been in the base game. I did find something on a friend of mine's blog that did help make sense of why toddlers were not added and why teens are the same height as adults, I will refer you to the post: http://sarademoorgames.blogspot.be/2013/09/animation-masterclass-with-marion.html
ReplyDeleteBut, at the same time it makes no sense as to why they would not just find the time to code this in properly, so that the variable heights are in the base game. If this is a problem now, I can't imagine how they will do toddlers... will they be objects as well? Will they be tied to a play pen much like babies are tied to the cradle? I am not a player, so it really doesn't make much difference to me one way or another, but it is a big deal for those who do actually play. What I am going to hate is the idea that we might have to PAY for additional color schemes. I won't like that at all. I have a feeling that my game will me modded and CC'd to the max...and as a simmer with a strictly vanilla game, this sucks major donkey!
